CINECOPETIN is Paraguay's first cine-bar. A cinema dedicated to auteur and art house film, situated in the heart of downtown Asunción within a heritage building dating back to 1900.
It was born out of a vision to offer audiences the finest cinematic experience, and to serve as a cultural gathering space that fosters a network of cinemas, cultural venues, and gastronomic destinations with a meaningful impact on the community.
CINECOPETIN stands as a singular alternative within the city's cinematic landscape: a direct meeting point between filmmakers and audiences, with a program of high artistic and aesthetic value, curated to screen films you won't find anywhere else.
Asunción's Historial Center lost its cinemas. WE'RE BUILDING A NEW ONE.
The historic heart of Asunción was once home to numerous movie theaters. Today, not a single one remains. CINECOPETIN was founded to reclaim that experience and create a home for contemporary Paraguayan cinema, auteur film, and the community that surrounds them.
We are restoring a heritage building from 1903 to become the city's first alternative screening venue, with a capacity of over 50 seats, 4K projection, and Dolby 5.1 sound.

Why is it IMPORTANT
and URGENT?
We need to reclaim the experience of downtown Asunción and revive its vanished cinemas, lost to the monopoly of major distributors that demolished neighborhood theaters across the city. As a singular independent alternative, CINECOPETIN emerges as the essential space for dissemination and encounter that Paraguayan cinema deserves: a venue where its quality can speak for itself, and a community project that can only exist through a network of people who believe in cinema as a shared cultural practice.

What are our GOALS?
• To deliver a technically uncompromising experience: 4K projection and Dolby 5.1 sound.
• To actively connect the community with cinema and culture, serving as an open stage and exchange point for festivals, film clubs, film schools, and cultural initiatives of all kinds.
• To maintain a diverse and living program that brings together contemporary cinema and dedicated space for classic and historical films, curated programs, and special formats, accompanied, wherever possible, by talks, panel discussions, or introductions.
What do you get for FOUNDING?
Everyone who donates will become part of the CINECOPETIN monthly newsletter, where we'll share updates, decisions, and the ongoing process of building the project. We want those who support us to witness this space take shape, step by step.
